The Medical Council of India (MCI) made the decision to devolve course recognition to respective states.
Maharashtra Medical Council Recognises MCh (Orth) Dundee degree
In 2015 the the Maharashtra Medical Council of India (MMC) in Mumbai officially recognised and registered Dr Dhiraj K Marothi's MCh (Orth) Dundee degree. Dr Marothi graduated in 2009.
Tamil Nadu Medical Council Recognises MCh (Orth) Dundee degree
Previously, in 2011, Tamil Nadu Medical Council, Chennai, did likewise for Dr Karthi Sundar Vellaiputhiyavan who graduated with his MCh (Orth) degree from Dundee in 2011.
As a UK postgraduate medical qualification, the MCh (Orth) awarded by the University of Dundee Medical School, one of the top 5 Medical Schools in the UK, is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI) as a valid postgraduate qualification as per the official Medical Council of India website.
The Indian Ministery of Health & Family Welfare notified that:
"All postgraduate medical qualifications awarded in the United Kingdom and recognized for enrolement as medical practitioners in the concerned specialities in that country"
