The website was launched in 2013 as the Head of Department, Professor Rami Abboud wanted the web site to showcase the evolving vibrant, dynamic and varied clinical and research work carried out within the department and its world renowned Institute of Motion and Research (IMAR) facilities.

Working in conjunction with the Dundee-based company MTC Media Ltd., one of Scotland’s fastest growing web development companies, we have produced a design that is both stimulating but simple and also one which retains the character of the various department’s people and facilities.

The main area on the homepage is designed to be a versatile system that can accommodate both mosaics of interactive tiles (simulating force plates) and larger banner images (simulating walkways). The site houses a lot of information but the web designers worked with us to produce visually rich landing pages in subsections. The entry page to the IMAR section in particular really stands out. As well as producing a web site that is inspiring visually, it was also essential that the department had full control and management of the web site in-house in order to be able to change content immediately. MTC delivered this through a simple and easy to use Content Management System which gives the team at TORT Centre full control of the web site from a content point of view. This gives us confidence in a web site that can adapt and change quickly to keep our presence visible and at the forefront of its field accurately reflecting the evolving activities at the department itself to our collaborators, past, current and prospective students.

It was a joy working with the guys at MTC Media Ltd. They were enthusiastic and switched on to what we were aiming to achieve with the project right from the off. Every member of the team is not only skilled in their respective positions but is very approachable and friendly making the constant need for contact an enjoyable experience. For the few months that we worked closely with MTC they actually felt like part of our closely-knit Department. We only wish that all customer support systems were as efficient, friendly and skilled as these guys.
