National Accreditation

The Institute of Motion Analysis & Research Gait Analysis Laboratory has again successfully completed the process of National accreditation by the Clinical Movement Analysis Society, UK and Ireland (CMAS). The Society is a National group of experts in the field of motion analysis and its function is to promote professional interaction, develop and monitor operational standards and training, and to stimulate and advance scientific knowledge. Audit is a rigorous process carried out by external assessors and examines all aspects of the standards and protocols for the acquisition, processing and reporting of complex three dimensional motion data. 122 different items were audited and the gait analysis laboratory passed on every item. The clinical gait analysis service is led by Mrs Sheila Gibbs whose work is focussed on patients who have problems with their walking such as cerebral palsy and spina bifida.
