Clinical Assistance MCh (Orth) Award 2014-2015

Last year in 2014 the Department of Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgery initiated a new award called the ‘Clinical Assistance Award’. This award is issued on the recommendation of the Ninewells Hospital Clinical Lead and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Sankar Sripada, who oversees and examines the MCh (Orth) clinical e-log book.

This year the award was deservedly presented to Dr Pradyumna Raval.

This certificate is not necessarily awarded annually but rather it will be given only in exceptional circumstances in recognition of candidates who, on the recommendation of the clinical e-log book examiner and ratified by the examiners board committee, have assisted and observed diligently in operating theatres and clinics throughout the MCh (Orth) degree.

Mr Sripada stated:

“There was one student who stood out this year and who followed the guidelines to the letter by staying with his appointed clinical attachment throughout the course. Dr Pradyumna applied great dedication and made great efforts to attend and remain to observe in theatres when not needed to assist. His discipline, approach and respect particularly stood out. He was complimented highly by Mr Jariwala to whom he was attached to”.

Professor Rami Abboud on welcoming MCh (Orth) candidates at the beginning of each academic year, always emphasises that “the more you put in to the course the more you will get out”, and Dr Pradyumna has definitely done that this year. "I wish Dr Pradyumna all the best in winning this award for his clinical input and dedication and would like to wish him all the best in his job at Wishaw General Hospital in Lanarkshire that he is due to start next month", stated Professor Abboud.
