Following the ceremony of signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Dundee and the Management and Science University of Malaysia, Professor Rami Abboud and his team welcomed Professor Dr. Mohamed Rusli Bin Abdullah, Dean of International Medical School and Consultant Epidemiologist (Tropical Medicine), and his team to the TORT Centre for a guided tour around the state of the art facilities at the Institute of Motion Analysis & Research (IMAR) and to discuss educational collaboration centred around intercalated honours degrees and intercalated postgraduate masters programmes.
The guided tour, originally planned for thirty minutes, eventually took two hours due to the common interests in biomechanics and sports between Professors Abboud and Abdullah that led from one topic to another discussing several related cutting edge projects and their implications as well as their benefits to athletes. In-shoe and barefoot pressure analysis of sports shoes and rehabilitation footwear, motion analysis of rock climbing hand-hold techniques, and the collection and analysis of movement data during long-distance air travel where all highlighted and discussed.

“It was a delight having Professor Abdullah and some of his staff with us in TORT. I thoroughly enjoyed our enthusiastic debates and hopefully we can carry this on through our collaborative initiatives. We are always extremely happy and enthusiastic to show visitors around the TORT Centre facilities and to initiate collaboration between the University of Dundee and other Institutes from around the world by utilising the facilities we have available here”, stated Professor Abboud.
