Eminent lecturers return to TORT

The Master of Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgery (MCh Orth) students were treated this week to two special visiting lecturers on 22 and 23 October, 2015. Distinguished visiting lecturers Professor Ian Trail and Professor David Stanley returned to the Department of Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgery to deliver their annual Upper Limb half-day sessions each. Over the two days candidates were treated to several hours of lectures on Hand, Wrist & Elbow Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty by these two eminent consultant upper limb surgeons from Wrightington and Sheffield respectively. Professors Trail and Stanley have been regular contributors on the MCh (Orth) course for over ten and three years respectively and enjoy the teaching environment and superb facilities at the TORT Centre so much that they give up their valuable time to impart their vast orthopaedic knowledge to our lucky postgraduate candidates.

It was good timing for Professor Stanley who took the opportunity to bring along his wife Marlene to Dundee to coincide with the Royal visit of Prince William and Kate, the Earl and Countess of Strathearn, for their first official visit to Dundee.

Professor Rami Abboud, Director of the MCh (Orth) course stated: “It is always a privilege and a treat to have these two eminent orthopaedic specialists lecture on our MCh Orth course. Their eagerness and enthusiasm in sharing their combined knowledge to our candidates is a yearly highlight of the syllabus and our candidates gain so much from them. It is the continual high quality of our visiting lecturers that makes this a stand-out course in the world of orthopaedics and is why our Graduates go on to successful careers in their fields.”
