Ian Kelly MCh (Orth) Award 2016

As well as winning the Ian Smillie Class Award of Distinction for best overall student, Dr Chinmaya Sharma, was also presented with the Department of Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgery’s ‘Ian Kelly Scientific Paper Award’ from Professor Rami Abboud at the TORT Centre on 31st May 2016.

Professor Abboud presents this award annually to the Master of Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgery (MCh Orth) degree student who has written the best scientific research paper submission for the year. “Ian was a great supporter of our MCh Orth course as a lecturer and one of our past external examiners (2002-2004). He was the Editor-in-Chief of Shoulder 7 Elbow. Ian unfortunately passed away whilst being one of our two external examiners and we are privileged to name this award after him”, stated Professor Abboud.
