Mrs Sheila Gibbs, Consultant Scientist at IMAR, elected Chair of CMAS
The Institute of Motion Analysis and Research (IMAR) hosted the Clinical Movement Analysis Society (CMAS) for UK & Ireland Annual meeting in April 2010. Our IMAR Gait facilities were subsequently one of the first laboratories in UK to be accredited in 2011. Mrs Sheila Gibbs, Clinical Senior Gait Analyst and Consultant Scientist, played a key role in developing standards and protocols for CMAS and has recently (23 April 2012) been elected as Chair of CMAS for the next 2 years.
Sheila is a major player in the field of motion and gait analysis both nationally and internationally. She has been lecturing for the past 10 years as part of a European faculty for the European Society for Motion Analysis in Children (ESMAC). She has been involved in motion analysis since 1992 and specialises in the management of paediatric cerebral palsy. She is close to completing her PhD on the control of the vertical forces in cerebral palsy gait to improve their ambulation and quality of life. “I am extremely proud of Sheila’s achievements as it is a great accolade for IMAR and the Medical School” ~ Director of IMAR, Professor Abboud.
