Clinical Assistance MCh (Orth) Award 2017
Dr Potsangbam Latsaheb Singh was presented with the Clinical Assistance Award by Professor Rami Abboud at the annual MCh (Orth) & BMSc Awards Ceremony, held on 29th May 2017 in the Gait Laboratory of the Institute of Motion Analysis and Research (IMAR) at the TORT Centre.
In 2014 the Department of Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgery initiated a new award called the ‘Clinical Assistance Award’. This award is issued on the recommendation of the Ninewells Hospital Clinical Lead and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Sankar Sripada, who oversees and examines the MCh (Orth) clinical e-log book. This certificate is not necessarily awarded annually but rather it is given only in exceptional circumstances in recognition of a candidate who, on the recommendation of the clinical e-log book examiner and ratified by the examiners board committee, has assisted and observed diligently in operating theatres and clinics throughout the MCh (Orth) degree.

Professor Abboud, on welcoming MCh (Orth) candidates at the beginning of each academic year, always emphasises that “the more you put in to the course the more you will get out”, and Dr Singh definitely did that throughout the year by assisting in over 150 operations. His fellow candidates all predicted that Dr Singh would win this award due to his meticulous commitment in attending and contributing at clinics and theatres during the year.
