Gujarat Orthopaedic Association (GOACON) 2019

Mr Arpit Jariwala (Consultant Upper Limb & Trauma Surgeon/Honorary Clinical Reader) has been invited as one of only four International Faculty, as a keynote speaker and judge/panelist, at the 37th annual Gujarat Orthopaedic Association (GOA) meeting on 1st - 3rd February, 2019 at the YMCA International Centre, Ahmedabad.

GOACON 2019 has been designed as an event to cater to the needs of orthopaedic surgeons of all levels - from veterans to beginners and post graduate trainees. The programme has been thoughtfully planned in a way that each delegate gets an opportunity to build on the basics to address the day to day challenges of clinical practice. The theme of this year’s meeting is “Stand up and speak up”.

Mr Jariwala will be presenting on the following topics:

  • Lateral end Clavicle and AC joint injuries - Tips and Tricks on management (01/02/2019)
  • Breakfast sessions - Five cases for discussion (03/02/2019)
  • Upper Limb Audit - Need, setting up, outcomes and lessons for practice (03/02/2019)
  • He will also be Chairing a session on Complex Proximal Humerus fractures on 2nd February

Mr Jariwala will be accompanied by Mr Sadiq Nasir (Specialist Academic Skills Tutor) and whilst there they will both be promoting courses run by the Medical School here at the University of Dundee including the Master of Orthopaedic Surgery (MCh Orth) degree, which Mr Jariwala completed in 2003 with distinction winning the top prize, the Ian Smillie Class Award of Distinction.

Dr Dhiraj K. Marothi Jain, who is a member of the GOACON, 2019 Scientific Committee is a graduate from the MCh (Orth) course in 2009. He is Senior Consultant Knee Replacement Surgeon, Director and Head of Department of Orthopaedics & Arthroplasty at The Gujarat Research & Medical Institute, Rajasthan Hospitals, Ahmedabad and is a champion of the MCh (Orth) Dundee, presenting a series of lectures every year here in Dundee.
