Dr Weijie Wang at Tianjin University, China

Dr Weijie Wang, Senior Lecturer at the University Department of Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgery (UDOTS), was invited to Tianjin University, China, by Dr Weifeng Li, Deputy Dean of the Office for Development of Medical Disciplines.

Dr Wang’s visit in December 2019 has further cemented the association between Dundee and Tianjin Universities and reinforces both Institute’s strong ties for future research and collaboration. Whilst there Dr Wang met with Professor Dong Ming, the Executive Director of Medical College of Tianjin University, Professor Tao Zhang and Professor Zhou Yang from Nankai University, Professor Tao Yin and Professor Zhipeng Liu from the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, and Professor Penghai Li from Tianjin University of Science and Technology. All the professors mentioned have previously been to Dundee either as visiting scholars or as project collaborators.

Dr Wang gave a talk at a seminar in Tianjin Institute of Orthopaedics (TIO), Tianjin Hospital associated with Tianjin University, where he introduced recent research activities at UDOTS and discussed potential future collaborations with Professor Jianxiong Ma, Director of TIO, and his colleagues. Dr Wang also toured the facilities at TIO and was impressed by their research achievements. On behalf of TIO, Professor Ma awarded an honorary professor certificate to Dr Wang who in turn invited Professor Ma and his colleagues to Dundee in the future.
