E-assessment complimenting P-assessment

The use of technology has become a vitally embeded element in our daily life including teaching and assessment. Despite this, students, undergraduate and postgraduate, still rely on some more traditional methods such as paper, erasers and pencils in conjunction with their iPads.

Whilst technology is important in our learning environment, it should still be considered as a complimentary tool to support learning and not entirely as a replacement. The day will soon arrive when kids as young as eight years old (already initiated in some local schools) will have e-books instead of p-books and exams will be solely online using e-assessment methods ulimately causing the demise of p-assessment!
