This webinar follows on from another successful online seminar, Distal Radial Fractures: an algorithm to solve the puzzle, held on Saturday 25th April 2020.

The webinar, organised on behalf of the West Bengal Orthopaedic Association, was moderated by Dr Nirmalya Deb, a UDOTS MCh (Orth) Alumni from 2015. Initially, it was planned to run for 90 minutes but lasted three hours, such was the volume of participant interest. This esteemed faculty, which included Dr Amitava Mukherjee, another MCh (Orth) Dundee Alumni from 2018, discussed management of distal radius fractures and its evidence-based management.

Mr Arpit Jariwala, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Director of University Department of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery (UDOTS), was an invited International Guest Speaker.

Dr Nirmayla Deb stated:

“The online seminar was attended by more than 3000 delegates and as well as Mr Arpit Jariwala from the University of Dundee, had other keynote faculties including the president of the Gujarat Orthopaedic Association, Dr Navin Thakker, and one of the most eminent orthopaedic surgeons in India, Dr John Mukhopadhaya, from Patna, Bihar, India, besides other prominent faculty members including the secretary of the Indian Arthroscopy Society, Dr Swarnendu Samanta, to name a few.

The meeting was singularly appreciated by all the attendees as well as other faculty members who tuned in to watch the webinar. With exceptional case discussions and learning outcomes, this was one of the most exciting webinars on this topic during these challenging times. We, on behalf of the West Bengal Orthopaedic Association, thank everyone for their participation and look forward to many more associations of this nature in future.”
