Iain Hyndman - Winner of TORC Students Award 2013

Iain Hyndman, 3rd year medical student at the University of Dundee, won the TORC Students Award at the 3rd Tayside Orthopaedic Research Club (TORC) on Friday 29th November 2013. Iain spent his summer 2013 at IMAR at the TORT Centre following his successful grant award from Action Research Council (ARC). In his research, he focused on one part of a bigger project looking into the "kinematic analysis of shoulder mobility in activities of daily living following Copeland resurfacing hemi-arthroplasty" that was carried out by one of our consultants, Mr Arpit Jariwala, for his MD degree.
"Iain joined our department whilst a second year medial student undertaking our SSC in Research and Audit", said Professor Abboud. "His desire towards furthering his knowledge in orthopaedics brought him back to us and I was pleased to support his request for a summer project in 2013. Obtaining the ARC Award was a great accolade for a young medic who is eager to further his research knowledge in Orthopaedics and by winning the TORC Students Award is a further feather in his cap for what I hope will be a successful career in orthopaedics", added Professor Abboud.
The project was supervised by a multidisciplinary team that involved: A Jariwala, GP Arnold, W Wang, L Johnston, CA Wigderowitz and RJ Abboud
