Inaugural UDOTS Photography Competition
The winner of the inaugural UDOTS photography competition is Dr Syed Mussadique Ali (MCh Orth Programme). His photographic entry, entitled Riders on the Storm, received the most votes from the judging panel.
The competition, organised by Mr Ian Christie (Postgraduate Skills Tutor), was open to all students studying on UDOTS programmes with the brief being to take a photograph representing the student’s experience and time in Dundee and Scotland.
Thanks to all students who entered the competition, but honourable mentions must go to Dr Abhijit Bandyopadhyay (MCh Orth Programme) and Ben Kelly (Intercalated BMSc Applied Orthopaedic Technology programme) for being close runners-up - there was only one vote separating 1st and 2nd place.

“Winning this Inaugural UDOTS Photography 2023 competition is a great accomplishment. I feel like I am on cloud nine! I am sure that the competition was highly competitive, and my win is a significant achievement. Competitions like this provide a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their talent, creativity, and skills along with their curriculum. I feel bad for the runners-up as I won by a very close margin but I am also happy and excited about my win. I would also like to congratulate all the participants of this photography competition and especially Dr Abhijit for securing second position and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.” - Dr Syed Mussadique Ali.
“I’d like to congratulate Dr Ali on winning the first UDOTS annual photographic competition. I hope Dr Ali’s experience of Dundee has not been as stormy as his winning entry and I applaud his patience in capturing the lightning strike in the City Centre. He must have been soaked to the skin!” - Ian Christie.
The winning entry then clockwise: Train on the River Tay (Dr Abhijit Bandyopadhyay), Imogen Art (Ben Kelly), Tay Rail Bridge (Dr Ajitabh Mishra), On Campus (Yaowei Huang), Dundee City Centre (Herbert Udogaranya).
