BIOS 2015, Biomechanics in Orthopaedic Surgery
Dr Sheila Gibbs, Consultant Clinical Scientist at the Institute of Motion Analysis & Research, TORT Centre, has been invited to teach on the inaugural BIOS - Biomechanics in Orthopaedic Surgery Instructional Course to be held on Fri 22nd - Sat 23rd May in Reykjavik, Iceland.
The course, sponsored by ÖSSUR, will be led by a faculty from the UK and will deliver instruction on the principles of biomechanics in orthopaedic surgery. The course will cover topics such as mechanical properties of materials, biomaterials, fracture biomechanics, prosthetics and orthotics, and arthroplasty design.
Dr Gibbs will deliver a lecture on the 'Biomechanics of normal and pathological gait', using her extensive knowledge of the subject, gained from over 20 years in the field.
A highlight of the two days will be an organised excursion to the famous Blue Lagoon.
