Mr Dalgleish is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon currently working in Dundee, Perth and Stracathro for NHS Tayside. He graduated from the University of Dundee in 2007 and went on to undertake his orthopaedic specialist training in the East of Scotland rotation (Tayside and Inverness). After obtaining the FRCS (Tr & Orth) professional examination in 2017, he undertook further subspecialist training in Western Australia on the Perth Sports Surgery Fellowship focussing on all aspects of sports, trauma and reconstructive knee surgery, and on the Hollywood Arthroplasty Fellowship, focusing on primary and revision knee and hip replacement.

His current clinical practice encompasses all aspects of knee surgery including soft tissue/sports knee reconstructive surgery, knee joint preservation surgery, partial and total knee replacement as well as hip replacement. He contributes to the orthopaedic on-call rota and undertakes all aspects of orthopaedic trauma including polytrauma.

Mr Dalgleish’s research interests include trauma, sports knee surgery, enhanced recovery and medical education. Since his appointment as a Consultant Trauma and Knee Surgeon, he has helped establish a post-operative Soft Tissue Knee audit database, prospectively collecting patient-reported outcomes following knee surgery procedures, such as ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair and patella stabilisation. These practices aim to improve the quality of clinical care and are a source of further research for Master's Students and Orthopaedic Trainees.

Mr Dalgleish is actively involved in the teaching, training and supervision of medical students, postgraduate students and trainee surgeons. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer for the Master of Orthopaedics (MCh Orth) programme; and along with delivering lectures and cadaveric workshops, joins as faculty for the Annual Sports Injury Symposium. He has been the Undergraduate Musculoskeletal Teaching Lead since 2019 overseeing the Year 2 Musculoskeletal block, the Year 4 Orthopaedic Block, Student Selected Components (SSCs) within the Orthopaedic department and is an examiner for the Year 4/5 Student Portfolios and Year 2-5 OSCE examinations. He is the Course Co-Director for the Basic Knee Arthroscopy course giving Surgical and Orthopaedic Trainees the chance to improve their keyhole surgery skills.
